Main Event Preview

Charles Oliveira

Charles Oliveira won the Lightweight Title after beating former three-time Bellator Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler for the vacant title, following previous champion Khabib Nurmagomedov’s retirement. This was at UFC 262 on May 15, 2021, and he has since made a successful title defense against former UFC Interim Lightweight champion Dustin Poirier at UFC 269 on December 11, 2021. Now, his title is again on the line as he faces yet another former UFC Interim Lightweight champion in Justin Gaethje.

Justin Gaethje

Justin “The Highlight” Gaethje is one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC, and he will be getting his second shot at The Lightweight Title. Gaethje first got a shot at the title when he defeated Tony Fergusson via TKO in the fifth round to become the interim UFC Lightweight Championship on April 18, at UFC 249. He then fought in a unification bout for the championship against Khabib Nurmagomedv at UFC 254, but he lost the fight via technical submission due to a triangle choke in the second round. His last fight was against former Bellator Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler at UFC 268 on November 6, 2021, which he won via unanimous decision.

Michael Chandler is also on the UFC 274 card as he faces Tony Ferguson in what seems like a guaranteed thriller. These two fan favorites will be looking to close ground to the title picture, but a loss could prove detrimental to their credentials after a couple of losses.
